Dr Brown was the first urologist to be accredited in the iTind procedure by Olympus in Australia, one of the first to adopt this minimally invasive surgical treatment (MIST).

The iTind procedure is a new minimally invasive therapy for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), offering an alternative to surgery, drugs, and permanent implants.

DR DAVID BROWN

Dr David Brown is a Consultant Urological Surgeon located in Brisbane QLD. He underwent specialist urology training in the UK and developed a sub specialist interest in the management of urological cancers including laparoscopic surgery having been trained at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre. He worked as a consultant in Fife in Scotland. Upon retiral from the RAF, he emigrated with his family in 2011 initially to New Zealand before moving to Australia 2017. He has now started work in Brisbane.

Dr Brown is an expert in the use of laser surgery of the prostate. He is the trainer for Olympus Australia in Laser enucleation of the prostate using the new Solve laser. This new pulsed Thulium laser has been shown to be excellent in both prostate and stone surgery. Dr Brown provides expert care and treatment with enucleation of the prostate.

As part of his search for excellence in the management of  prostate disease, he started using the new iTind device produced by Olympus. He became the first accredited surgeon in Australia in the use of this minimally invasive treatment that has shown excellent results in the management of BPH. He is an enthusiastic teacher for both Medical students and Junior doctors and has held positions with multiple universities in the UK, New Zealand and here in Australia. He is committed to the improvement of clinical care to all patients and tries to instil an enthusiasm in all he trains. He is active in the Royal College of Surgeons and sits on the Rural Surgery Section Committee.
